Shipmate Cliff Bowling took this photo from the flight deck when Wasp pulled into Naples, Italy, to pick up U.S. troops for the ride home. Those are bombed-out buildings on the other side of the life raft.

Cliff took this photo at SouthHampton, England, where Wasp picked up the 5,000 troops for the very seasick (for the soldiers of course) trip home. Cliff said they all spent most of the time hanging over the side
"Click" (courtesy of Thomas Dee) Joe Dee, Thomas Dee's son, wrote: "The picture that has the Wasp's battle scores was taken in Puget Sound, 11 April 1945. These are all the Chiefs on the ship at that time. Sorry I don't have any of the names, just the date. My father is 6th from the left, standing."
"The Hellcat is from another ship for the Wasp had a white line about 3 to 4 inches wide from the front of the tail to the rear of the tale. The picture with the Hellcat and three rows of gobs, my father is the first from the left in the middle row. "
